Web Design Port Stephens: Websites for Locals and Visitors, From $830

We build websites for businesses at both ends of Port Stephens: Nelson Bay, Salamander Bay, Corlette, Shoal Bay, Anna Bay and Soldiers Point, through to Medowie and Raymond Terrace. Prices start from $830, with no GST added. We're Hunter Web Studio, on King Street in Newcastle.

Do you build websites for Port Stephens businesses?

Yes. We build websites for trades, shops, salons, cafés and holiday businesses across Port Stephens. That covers the Tomaree Peninsula, from Nelson Bay to Anna Bay, and the other end too, around Medowie and Raymond Terrace.

Council counts about 80,070 people and 5,254 actively trading businesses in Port Stephens.

Who is looking for Port Stephens businesses?

Lots of people who don't live here. Council's Economic Insights says about 43% of the money spent at Port Stephens businesses from February to April 2026 came from people who live outside the area. At Shoal Bay it was about 75%.

Destination NSW reported 800,000 domestic overnight visitors to Port Stephens in the year to September 2024. Together they spent about $700 million.

Visitors don't know the area. They can't ask a neighbour which café or mechanic is good. So they go by what they can find: your website, your Google listing and your reviews.

What did Google show when we searched for Nelson Bay trades?

On 30 October 2026 we searched Google from Nelson Bay for eight everyday services: plumber, electrician, builder, landscaper, painter, hairdresser, mechanic and cleaner. For each one we looked at the businesses Google put at the top, and checked where each one's "Website" button went.

For "cleaner nelson bay", Google showed an AI summary listing four cleaners instead of a map. We counted those four. One set of searches, on one day, from one place.

A few things stood out:

  • Three businesses had their Google "Website" button pointing to a directory or booking page instead of a site of their own. We didn't see that in Charlestown or Maitland.
  • In the cleaner search, Google's AI summary described three of the four cleaners by their holiday-rental and Airbnb work.
  • A search for Nelson Bay drew on the whole peninsula. 7 of the 21 businesses in the map were based in Corlette, Salamander Bay or Soldiers Point.
  • The plumber and electrician searches each showed three paid ads above the map, so the map started further down the page.

Is a Oneflare, Fresha or Localsearch page enough?

It can get you into the map. All three of those businesses made Google's top three. Booking tools like Fresha are also handy for salons.

The catch is that you don't own that page. The platform decides how it looks and what else appears on it, and it may show other businesses next to yours.

A website of your own can keep your booking button. Customers book the same way as before, but they find you on your own page first.

Do Nelson Bay and Raymond Terrace customers see the same results?

No. We searched "web design port stephens" from Nelson Bay, then from Raymond Terrace. The three businesses in the map were completely different, and so were the normal results under it.

Google also mixed in building designers and web designers from Port Macquarie. When Google isn't sure what a search means, clear words on your site help. Say what you do, and name the towns you work in.
